Fukuoka is Japan's most livable city and it shows. The city is compact and mostly flat, with a modern subway system that's fully accessible. Canal City mall is a family paradise with every facility imaginable. The yatai (food stalls) along the river are a unique experience, though tight with strollers. Japanese department stores (Hakata Station area) have incredible baby rooms with nursing areas, changing stations, and even hot water for formula. Ohori Park is a perfect family destination. The city feels less hectic than Tokyo or Osaka.
